Chicago Gray
It's that time of the year when the skies become light gray, the air becomes colder, and those ostentatious, colored leaves are in bags on the sidewalk. Winter is on its' way, officially or not.
The sky in the midwest has a propensity towards grayness that I don't remember from the east coast. Sometime in November, it takes over the sky and doesn't let up until April or May. Fortunately, I'm not partial to either beach volleyball or duck hunting, so this overcast weather doesn't effect me in the least, on the sporting side.
It's more the attitude that becomes a problem. Whereas in September or October, a little Fall chill is refreshing: a break from the ridiculous summer heat, by November it presages several more months of drudgery, coldery and general skulduggery.
And that groundhog don't know shit.
In the coming weeks, college football will dry up, temperatures will drop, and the endless NFL season will drag on like a long night at Abu Ghraib. Here's a conversation I can expect to have every Sunday evening with my landlord:
"Hey, d'you see that Bears game?"
"Uh, nn-yeah. I missed it!"
"Can you believe they can't convert on fourth and inches?"
"Oh, yeah. They suck."
"What're you talking about? They're in first."
"And awesome. They're awesome, too."
How does one combat such lethargy when it's encouraged by the weather? A move to warmer climes? Do they even still sell sunblock?

As a side note, an appreciation:
I went to bobbiouslee.blogspot.com only to find it "GONE" like Jesus at the end of "The Passion of the Christ" (which I've never seen). He is arisen. Might his visage be appearing on a piece of toast in the future?
