After a too-late night, and many heavy hearted goodbyes, I finally hit the road at about 8:30 this morn. Fourteen short hours later, I find myself at the Sterling Sundowner Best Western. Probably got a good picture of what the trip out will be like, at least mood-wise. I've bounced from overcaffination to angsty/uncomfortable to "rockin" (The Hives) to "I love this book on tape." to "rollin" (Zep.) to "I hate this book on tape. Where's that goddamn hotel?." I'll try to think of some funnier stuff for tomorrow...meanwhile, here are some pics, with captions!
Via Chicago...I had wanted to take Lake Shore Drive for "the last time" (sniff), but I opted for the expressway. Bad decision.
The Distance.

The Might Mississip!
I threw my keys away in Iowa City. I realized this when I was already in the Convenience Store with a bottle of water and some trail mix in hand. I ran out of there without paying the man. Bad decision. That half drunk vanilla shake was awesome, though. Too bad I wasn't the one who half-drank it.
Nebraska. "Welcome...to Jurassic Suck."
Off into the sunset.
